The MCC Theater Youth Company presents their 7th annual UNCENSORED, an evening of new works by NYC high school students, who are encouraged to unleash their imaginations and express themselves, free of censorship. The MCC Theater Youth Company is a free after-school program for New York City public high school students interested in playwriting and acting. The company offers weekly acting and playwriting labs, led by theater professionals. Approximately 50 high school students, representing all five boroughs of New York City, are part of the Youth Company. UNCENSORED is an evening of original monologues, scenes, music and ensemble pieces, addressing sexuality, family, love, relationships, and other issues related to the often-complex and exhilarating challenge of being a teenager in New York. UNCENSORED presents the participants’ artistic talents without censorship, and gives audiences a rare, unrestricted glimpse into the hearts and minds of the next generation of theater artists.

New York’s very own EELWAX JESUS returns to The Zipper Factory. Fusing finger-snappin' high- concept rock music with chic-kitsch imagery, the EELWAX JESUS Show will also welcome special guests: composer/ musician Rima Fand (co-founder of LUMINESCENT ORCHESTRII), strait jacket escape artist The Amazing Shechtman and The Bavarian Weatherman. EELWAX JESUS was formed in 1999 by a group of theatre virtuosos with a passion for indie rock music and healthy dose of post-punk cynicism. The musical clown act The Maestrosities celebrate their first anniversary by kicking off a monthly variety show at The Zipper. The special guests for the first show will be burlesque sensation Julie Atlas Muz, juggler Paulo Garbanzo and Magic Brian.
The show features heart-swelling, mind-bending tributes to the pop greats of our generation: Madonna, Jackson Five, Herb Alpert (and The Star Wars Cantina Song) played on tuba, ukulele, accordion, trumpet, clarinet and spoons, in addition to juggling, tap dancing and lots of other fun stuff.
Anyone can dream of being in a rock band. Most people use better judgement and leave it at dreaming. But these six clowns have triumphed over better judgement, to live that rock-and-roll dream for all of us. Sort of.

The Broadway Boys is a collection of tenors from the NY stage. By adding elements of pop/gospel/funk to traditional musical theater repertoire, The Boys have created a new sound for the stage, bridging the gap between pop music and theater. The Broadway Boys at The Zipper, directed by Billy Porter, will be an evening of Broadway Boys standards, such as "Defying Gravity" and “Lullaby of Broadway," as well as some new, exciting arrangements. Backed by the Broadway Boys Band, led by Justin Paul, the evening will be an explosive concert of impressive vocals and intriguing arrangements!
